چکیده
This study investigates the application of different ultrasonic Non-Destructive tests to assess Delayed Ettringite Formation, in concrete samples exhibiting low kinetic expansions (and up 0.21%). Linear and nonlinear Resonant Ultrasonic Spectroscopy Acoustic Emission were used. Scanning Electron Microscopy optical microscopy observations conducted at end monitoring tests. The results showed a slight increase dynamic modulus Quality factor while hysteretic parameters remained constant over test duration. attested occurrence events. However, microscopic did not reveal meaningful differences microcracking extent between samples.

Ettringite Formation and the Performance of Concrete
concrete pavements and precast members gained notoriety because of uncertainty over the cause of their distress. Because of the unexplained and complex nature of several of these cases, considerable debate and controversy have arisen in the research and consulting community. To a great extent, this has led to a misperception that the problems are more prevalent than actual case studies would in...
متن کاملDelayed Ettringite Formation in Fly Ash Concrete under Moist Curing Conditions
During the hydration of cement, tricalcium aluminate (C3A) reacts with gypsum and forms ettringite (AFt). Once all gypsum is consumed, ettringite can further react with remaining C3A and form monosulfate (AFm) at 1–2 days. Normally, at early ages, ettringite all transfers to AFm phase. After several months or years, ettringite can form again if a new source of sulfate becomes available in the p...
متن کاملNonlinear Optimal Control Techniques Applied to a Launch Vehicle Autopilot
This paper presents an application of the nonlinear optimal control techniques to the design of launch vehicle autopilots. The optimal control is given by the solution to the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation, which in this case cannot be solved explicity. A method based upon Successive Galerkin Approximation (SGA), is used to obtain an approximate optimal solution. Simulation results invo...
متن کاملPulse compression technique applied to ultrasonic nondestructive testing of concrete
The pulse compression technique is successfully and widely used in many fields for improving the signal to noise ratio (SNR); which is especially useful when the environment is noisy and the SNR is poor. Since high frequency ultrasound is strongly attenuated in concrete, only low frequency ultrasound can be used in ultrasonic nondestructive testing (NDT) of concrete. In this study the pulse com...
